The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which oversees the Municipal Railway (Muni), advises Muni customers about its ongoing state of good repair work on the Muni Metro system. Over the course of the next seven weeks, the SFMTA will replace the metal roll-up station entrance doors at the Castro, Church and Van Ness Muni Metro stations. At least one entrance will be available at all stations during the work.

From Monday, Aug. 15 through Friday, Aug. 19, the north entrance of Castro Station will be closed. During that time Muni service will not be affected. Muni customers will be able to enter and exit the station from the south entrance at Harvey Milk Plaza or via the accessible service elevator on the north side of Market Street at 17th Street.

The door replacement at Church and Van Ness stations will take place according to the following schedule:

  • Church Street Station – north entrance Begins Monday, Aug. 22
  • Church Street Station – south entrance Begins Monday, Aug. 29
  • Van Ness Station – northeast entrance Begins Tuesday, Sept. 6
  • Van Ness Station – southeast entrance Begins Monday, Sept. 12
  • Van Ness Station – northwest entrance Begins Monday, Sept. 19
  • Van Ness Station – southwest entrance Begins Tuesday, Sept. 26

The work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The affected entrances will be closed during all hours of Metro operation for five days. Muni Metro service will continue in operation and none of the stations will be closed due to the construction.
