The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which manages transportation in the city, including the Municipal Railway (Muni), today reminds customers of the continuation of track improvement work on the Muni Metro system. From 7 p.m., Tomorrow, Jan. 27 until 5 a.m., Monday, Jan. 30 the SFMTA will replace the tracks at the intersection of Market and Church streets. The construction will continue around the clock over the weekend and require the closure of Church Street in both directions at Market Street and westbound Market Street at Church Street to through traffic. Eastbound Market Street will remain open. In addition to traffic impacts, the construction will also require partial shutdowns of the J Church and F Market & Wharves lines and reroutes of the 22 Fillmore, 37 Corbett and N Owl.

This work is part of the nearly two-year long Church and Duboce Track and Street Improvement Project that began last spring. It will ensure a safer, more reliable transportation network by replacing worn infrastructure and keeping Muni in a state of good repair.

Inbound J Church customers continuing downtown will need to transfer from the stop on Church Street south of Market to Metro service in the Church Street Station. Outbound J Line customers should take a K Ingleside, L Taraval, M Ocean View or S Shuttle train to Church Street Station.

SFMTA Ambassadors will be in the area to provide information and to assist customers at transfer points.
