*** Press Release ***

As the St. Francis Circle Rail Replacement Project continues, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which operates the Municipal Railway (Muni), advises residents and visitors that specific construction work will require lane closures Friday, August 27, Monday, August 30 and Tuesday, August 31 as well as parking removal on Sunday, August 29 in the area around St. Francis Circle. The temporary lane closures will impact local traffic. SFPD will be on site to direct traffic. Local access will be provided.

Street Repaving

On Friday, Monday and Tuesday between 7a.m. and 7p.m. each day, repaving work will be done on the following streets in both directions:

  • Sloat Boulevard, approximately 120 feet west of Junipero Serra Boulevard
  • Junipero Serra Boulevard, approximately 250 feet south of Sloat/St. Francis Boulevard

At least one lane in each direction will remain open on both streets. The dedicated right turn from Sloat to Junipero Serra will remain closed.

On Monday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., repaving work will also be done on St. Francis Boulevard, approximately 120 feet east of Junipero Serra Boulevard and require a closure in both directions during this time. As an alternate route, motorists entering St. Francis Boulevard from eastbound Sloat can detour onto Portola Drive and then turn right on Santa Ana Way. Those traveling west on St. Francis Boulevard can turn right on Santa Ana Way and left on Portola Drive.

The 23 Monterey Muni bus route will be affected from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

West Portal Track Construction

The St. Francis Circle Project will be completed by Sept. 4. As part of the project conclusion, the temporary rail crossover previously installed on West Portal Avenue between 14th and 15th avenues will be removed.
