Release date: 10/25/10 *** Press Release ***The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which oversees all surface transportation in the City including the Municipal Railway (Muni), today announced that it will provide Clipper cards preloaded with the November monthly “A” Fast Pass (for use on BART within the City as well as Muni) at all current Muni pass sales locations (a list is available at www.sfmta.com/vendors or by calling 311). This means that for November Clipper cards will be available at every Muni pass sales outlet as well as at Clipper distributors. “We want to make the transition to the Clipper card as convenient as possible for our customers who enjoy the unlimited ride, monthly Muni “A” Fast Pass. Therefore, we have worked with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) to provide our Muni retailers with a supply of Clipper cards loaded with the November Fast Pass,” said Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., Executive Director/CEO. Muni customers may also purchase the Clipper card with the preloaded November Fast Pass at any Muni Ticket Vending Machine in the Metro Stations. Customers who purchase a preloaded Clipper card for November will need to load future passes or electronic cash via one of the Clipper distributors (a list is available at www.clippercard.com/retail or by calling Clipper Customer Service at 877.878.8883), or online at www.clippercard.com. Customers are advised to review where they currently get their Muni pass and determine if they will need to change outlets. There are a total of 94 Clipper distributors in San Francisco and an additional 12 will be added in by the end of November. The MTC, which administers the Clipper program, will continue to work to ensure that the distributor network meets the needs of the neighborhoods. Clipper is the convenient way to pay for rides on many Bay Area transit services. The Clipper card stores value in the form of electronic cash (cash value) and transit passes. Clipper is accepted on all Muni vehicles (including cable car with monthly pass on the card only), BART, AC Transit, Golden Gate Transit and Ferry, Caltrain and, soon, SamTrans and VTA.
