*** Press Release ***

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which oversees all surface transportation in the city, including the Municipal Railway (Muni), today announced that the California Cable Car Line will be down for Muni signal work on California Street, west of Drumm Street all day, Thursday, May 17. Bus shuttles will be in place. The signal work will move the pre-emptive signal in the eastbound direction of the line away from the intersection, allowing for a smoother crossing of Drumm Street to the end of the line.

The work will be done on California Street between Drumm and Davis streets. Traffic lanes will be open in each direction around the work area. No parking removal will be required. California Cable Cars will be back on the street at the start of service on Friday.

Countdown to the Shutdown

The Long Muni Rail Shutdown, May 25 to June 4, will impact the N Judah, the J Church, the 22 Fillmore and several other bus routes. Traffic detours as well as bike detours for the Wiggle, the Steiner/Sanchez route and the connector route between the Wiggle and Market Street will also be in place. More information and updates are available at www.sfmta.com/longshutdown.
