Release date: 10/26/10 *** Press Release ***The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which oversees all surface transportation in the City including the Municipal Railway (Muni), encourages baseball fans to take Muni, taxis, walk or bike to the 2010 World Series games hosted at AT&T Park, Wednesday, Oct. 27 and Thursday, Oct. 28. The games will start at 4:57 p.m., with pre-game activities beginning at 1:30 p.m. “The SFMTA congratulates the Giants on a stellar season,” said Nathaniel P. Ford Sr., Executive Director/CEO. “We welcome the many baseball fans in town and remind them that we are here to help them get to the ballpark safely and efficiently.” Transit The following Muni service is available to and from all home games:
Baseball fans transferring from BART may purchase pre-paid fare (round trip) at the Embarcadero Station. Round-trip tickets will also be available at the Powell Street Metro station primary gate. Sales at these locations will begin at 2 p.m. and continue until 5 p.m. One way (single trip) transfers can be purchased at the 2nd & King streets AT&T Park ticket windows beginning at 3 p.m. and continuing until one hour after the game. The SFMTA will schedule eight additional Metro “baseball shuttles” to supplement the existing N Judah and T Third service to the ballpark. The additional service will begin three hours prior to the game and continue until approximately 20 minutes after the start of the game. SFMTA Service Ambassadors will be in the Powell, Montgomery and Civic Center Muni Metro stations from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. each day to assist Muni customers. Complete AT&T Park transit information Traffic For each home game during the World Series, the following street closures will be required from the top of the seventh inning until the end of the game and until post-game traffic is clear:
Taxis will be allowed through the eastbound King Street closure and Muni service will not be impacted by any of the street closures. Taxis During the World Series, two taxi stands will be available near AT&T Park for home games:
Bicycles The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition operates a secure bike parking facility at AT&T Park. Bicycle parking is located on the south side of the ballpark, along PortWalk, and opens two hours before every game and closes 30 minutes after each game. More than 20 SFMTA Parking Control Officers (PCOs) will also contribute to the ease of getting to and from the game. Prior to each game, these PCOs will be deployed to key locations around the ballpark to facilitate pedestrians, transit vehicles and other traffic. |
