Release date: May 22, 2013 *** Press Release ***The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), which oversees transportation in the city, including the Municipal Railway (Muni), announced at yesterday’s Board meeting that it will launch its new website at www.sfmta.com next week. The new site has been redesigned to better serve both San Francisco residents and visitors whether they are traveling by Muni, bike, taxi, car or foot. The new site will be easier to navigate and mobile device friendly, designed to work on any smartphone or tablet. It will provide SFMTA customers the tools they need to better access San Francisco’s busy transportation network. The newly redesigned site will be more customer-centric, providing fast and efficient real-time information. It will provide home page access to trip planning, Muni service alerts from both 511 and the SFMTA’s Twitter feed, @sfmta_muni, and a “Latest News” section. ‘How-to’ sections will offer information such as how to ride the bus or how to take your bike on Muni. The new sfmta.com site will provide extensive maps for Muni, walking, parking garages and taxi stands. “We are looking forward to launching this newly redesigned website that is easier to use. It is designed to deliver an improved customer experience by helping site visitors navigate one of the most diverse transportation networks in the world,” said Ed Reiskin Director of Transportation. “With such a diverse network, the SFMTA requires a clear and engaging website to help our customers and the general public access the city’s many transportation options as well as our various services and projects.” Key new features:
The site was designed with web designers Rolling Orange. Rolling Orange designs and develops strategic web solutions for leading government, education, healthcare, and performing arts organizations.
