Clipper® Card Fee Reinstatement
Buying a new Clipper® card?
On September 1, new Adult Clipper cards will cost $3. Clipper will waive this fee if you sign up for automatic reloading when you order a card online at clippercard.com.
This fee only applies to new Adult Clipper cards.

2. Why is the card fee being reinstated?
Clipper is a publicly sponsored program. This fee helps offset the actual cost of producing the card. Clipper wants to encourage people to keep and reuse their cards, not dispose of them. Clipper cards are easy to load with value and can be automatically reloaded.
3. Who is affected by this reinstatement?
The $3.00 fee applies only to new Adult card purchases.
4. Do I need to do anything if I already have a Clipper card?
No action is required and there is no retroactive charge.
5. Is there still a $3 fee if I use Autoload?
No, if you set up Autoload at the time you order your card online, the fee will be waived.
6. Is there ever a charge for Youth, Senior or Disabled Clipper cards?
Youth and Senior Clipper cards are always free. The cost remains $3 for a Regional Transit Connection (RTC) card, the special Clipper card, for passengers with qualifying disabilities.
