The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board of Directors has adopted a short-term pilot program for buying and selling San Francisco taxi medallions, and to offer qualified taxi drivers an opportunity to buy and qualified medallion holders an opportunity to sell a limited number of San Francisco taxi medallions, called the "Pilot Program." On this page, you will find information on the program and follow the process thus far.

SFMTA issues Request for Information (RFI) to financial institutions to solicit lenders to finance medallion purchases; responses were due May, 1, 2009. Informal responses were received from Montauk Credit Union and Lomto Credit Union in New York; Patelco, Chase, Mission National Bank, Bank of the West; and the San Francisco Federal, San Francisco Fire and San Francisco Police Credit Unions.
