The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board of Directors has adopted a short-term pilot program for buying and selling San Francisco taxi medallions, and to offer qualified taxi drivers an opportunity to buy and qualified medallion holders an opportunity to sell a limited number of San Francisco taxi medallions, called the "Pilot Program." SFMTA issues Request for Information (RFI) to financial institutions to solicit lenders to finance medallion purchases; responses were due May, 1, 2009. Informal responses were received from Montauk Credit Union and Lomto Credit Union in New York; Patelco, Chase, Mission National Bank, Bank of the West; and the San Francisco Federal, San Francisco Fire and San Francisco Police Credit Unions.
